THINK ABOUT IT 7-5-23
NEEDING GOD’S HELP
Last night I sat in my recliner trying to go to sleep, fuming over the loud on- going exploding of fireworks. So I finally decided to look at my laptop and read something until it stopped.
The first thing I came to in my saved post was an article I wrote 13 years ago. It wasn’t until near the end of the article when I saw something I didn’t want to see – it was about how we need to “stop complaining!” I said, “That’s good advice, but you need to know that God alone can enable us to do this”.
So obviously, God’s still working on me. I still complain at times- too many times. It’s easy to write, counsel, or preach about what we ought to do, but another thing to do it. As embarrassing as that was, something good came out of it. I reminded myself that I need God’s help, that He alone can enable us to do what we should.
By the way, even with all the complaining the barrage of fireworks kept coming. My complaining didn’t change a thing, unless it was my blood pressure. Finally I turned on some music, hoping it divert my attention and stop my complaining. But that was just one battle. I feel certain that before the day is over I’ll find something else to complain about. So, I’m praying that God will help me stop complaining about things I can’t change or control. Who knows, it might be that you have the same problem. So, let’s pray for one another. Think about it!
