“—let the people renew their strength—“( Isaiah 41:1)
Every living thing needs to be renewed. It true of people as well as plants. It is true of the oldest and wisest of saints just as it is of new Christians. We never out grow our need for it. As Spurgeon said,”Even the trees, which wear not themselves with care, nor shorten their lives with labour, must drink of the rain of heaven and suck from the hidden treasures of the soil. The cedars of Lebanon, which God planted, only live because day by day they are full of sap fresh drawn from the earth. Neither can man’s life be sustained without renewal from God. As it is necessary to repair the waste of the body by the frequent meal, so we must repair the waste of the soul by feeding upon the Book of God.”
That is so true, and so obvious, yet multitudes ingore it. They neglect the nourishment of their soul, and they do so at great peril. Just as the body grows weaker and weaker without food, those who fail to feed on God’s Word become malnourished and Satan takes advantage of their weakness.
Life is filled with hard challenges and we must be up to the task, or else suffer defeat. Whatever sacrifices you must make to do it—take time to feed your soul upon God’s Word. It is our daily bread. It alone is able to sufficently renew your strength. Get in the Word and get the Word in you. Renew your strength, lest you grow weary and faint on the battlefield of life.
