MORNING MANNA 10-10-24
“….. be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”1 Timothy 4:12
Claiming Jesus is your Lord and Savior is meaningless without evidence that you have indeed surrendered yourself to His authority and sought to do His will. Your neighbor doesn’t care about what you say or sing. They watch what you do. It’s your practice, not your profession, that proves your possession of Christ!
That’s not only true in regards to our actions, but our attitude as well. If we refuse to accept what God appoints or allows and complain about our circumstances in life our glowing words about God’s goodness falls on deaf ears. While we may moan we must not murmur lest we leave the impression that God is unfair. Therefore others reason, “Why would I want your God?”.
Just as some want to take Christ out of Christmas, it seems that some are taking Christ out of the name Christian. Although they wear a WWJD bracelet they make no effort to discover or do what Jesus would do. As long as they feel as good as the average Church member they think that’s good enough- never realizing that average and normal are not the same. Christ is our example and we are failing unless we are growing in His likeness.
People tend to judge Christ by what they see in professing Christians. Sadly, far too often, we leave the wrong impression. It’s one thing to sing “To Be Like Jesus” and another thing to be like Him. God help us to always be looking unto Jesus that we might become like him. -HDS
