MORNING MANNA 1-5-25
ANOTHER YEAR FOR THEE
“This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.” Lam. 3:21-24
This being the first Sunday of a new year, let us resolve in our heart to live for the One who died for us. Don’t allow your past failures to be fatal. Whatever tomorrow brings let us live it for the Lord
English hymn-writer Frances R. Havergal wrote:
Another year is dawning,
Dear Father let it be,
In working or in waiting,
Another year with thee.
Another year of progress,
Another year of praise,
Another year of proving
Thy presence all the days.
Another year of mercies,
Of faithfulness and grace,
Another year of gladness,
The glory of thy face…
Another year of service,
Of witness for thy love,
Another year of training
For holier work above.
Another year is dawning,
Dear Father, let it be,
On earth, or else in heaven,
Another year for thee.
Thank God for a new beginning. We are entering new territory. Whatever the past has been we have an opportunity to be used of God let us live in such a way that 2025 ends we can look back with no regrets.
Regardless of who you are or where you are you can be a success. I define success as simply discovering the will of God and doing it. None of us are perfect, but we can be faithful – doing the best we can, with what we have, where we are, as long as we can. May we then live so as to hear the Lord say, “Well done”. That’s a life well lived and it is in your grasp. We have been given this new year as a gift, let us be “faithful unto death.”- HDS
