Thoughts are expressed by words, and those words eventually become actions. I read a disturbing article today about a couple of teenage girls that got online and expressed their thoughts of taking their own lives. What was more disturbing than that is that they did it. Satans goal has been revealed in the bible. He wants to destroy anything and anyone he can gain influence over. In Matthew 8:31-32, the devils went into the herd of swine: and behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters. Luke 22:3 says Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, and Matthew ch. 27 says he went and hanged himself after he had betrayed Jesus. If the bible is not influencing the mind, Satan will be. The teen article made me recall the theme verse for this blog, Romans 12:2. And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND… The word of God is medicine for the mind. Philippians 2:5 says Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. I can’t think of a better condition for the mind to be in, and the believer in Jesus Christ that reads, studies, and meditates on the word of God enters this condition. Therapy may do a little bit of good, but it’s a distant second to theology. I am very thankful to be in a position to teach the word of God to the precious young minds of christians which provides them with protection from Satans lies. Instead of having their lives destroyed, the entrance of Gods word is drawing them to a dedicated devotion.

wSunday School lessons for the month : Matthew Chapter 4 v 12 -ch5 v 20
Week 1: Jesus said,”Follow me and I will make you fishers of me.” Peter, Andrew, James, & John put a new heavenly habit above their old human habits. They chose to follow the Lord and lead people to Christ. A great lesson for the teenagers to see the purpose of going door to door as they do to share their faith.
Week 2: The sermon on the Mount starting with the beatitudes: This lined out really neat as I studied them & I believe they got it. Our spiritual APPETITE is found in ch5v6..hungering and thirsting after righteousness, v3-5 shows our spiritual ATTITUDE- POOR IN SPIRIT, MOURNING, AND MEEKNESS. and v7-9 gives us the spiritual APPLICATION- MERCIFUL, PURE IN HEART, AND PEACEMAKER.
Week 3: We are the salt of the earth & the light of the world. I trust that the Lord made it clear to our young people that it’s not acceptable to be a silent christian. As they learn more about our great salvation I find that they don’t want to be quiet about it… Awesome group of young people!
Week 4: Jesus made known the importance of the law. We are no longer under the burden of the law showing us we’re guilty, but by the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we are able to obey it & please God.
Had a great movie night this month. ‘SEVEN DAYS IN UTOPIA’ was a great example of the forgiveness we can extend once we’re a child of God.

~ LAKEWAY TEENS ARE STARTING THE YEAR OUT GREAT~ (9TH-12TH GRADE)
THE 1ST FIVE SUNDAYS OF THE YEAR HAVE BEEN SPENT ON THE SUBJECT OF “STEWARDSHIP”
Week 1 : THE MEANING OF STEWARDSHIP- The managing of your life and everything you have for God.
Week 2 : THE STEWARDSHIP OF TIME- We will give an account to God for every moment of our saved life. Procrastination will destroy good management of your time. GET REST! Quit staying up so late and you won’t be too tired to be wise with your time.
Week 3 : THE STEWARDSHIP OF THINGS- What a great age to find out that what you possess and will possess, you don’t really possess. God owns us and everything we have. We are only overseers of it for him. It’s good to learn that early in life.
Week 4 : THE STEWARDSHIP OF TESTIMONY- We’re not only SAVED by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we’re to SHARE the truth of Jesus and the change he is making in our lives. If you are saved, you have a testimony and a responsibility to tell it to others.
Week 5 : THE STEWARDSHIP OF TALENTS : The teens were encouraged to know that they have a talent whether they realize it or not. We are responsible for discovering it and using it for Gods glory.
Starting Feb. 5th, we will launch into a 45 week series in THE GOSPEL OF MATTHEW. Jesus is not only the Son of God, Son of Man, and Servant, but we will learn that he’s King Jesus.
Teens worked hard and did a great job at the SPAGHETTI DINNER FUNDRAISER. It’s great to go to camp, but what’s even better is going to camp after working to help cover your fee. These young people will never regret learning good work habits.
WEDNESDAY, FEB. 1ST seemed to be the best midweek night of the year so far. We shared Gods call on the life of Moses by way of a burning bush. God is calling out to us through the situations that cross our path daily. Are we listening? In a sense, “THE BUSH STILL BURNS TODAY”. After a time of study, it was time to get silly. We were blessed with a guest (Ken Perry) who examined our level of competitiveness and our cooperation in teamwork. Did all of us really have to end up with 5 PIECES OF GUM IN OUR MOUTH? LOTS OF FUN…
FOOTBALL GAME, FEB. 4TH AT THE CHURCH from 10am-2pm, guys and girls. Michael Mills is organizing it, preparing the food for lunch, and giving the devotional. Thanks for all your hard work.
WITNESSING WEDNESDAYS should be back on track soon as long as the weather is.

Week 1: The MEANING OF STEWARDSHIP : the managing of our lives for God.
Week 2: STEWARDSHIP OF TIME : Learned that we’re responsible to God for every moment of life & procrastination destroys good stewardship of it… GET REST! There was a great emphasis on how importance rest is. Quit staying up late so you won’t be too tired to manage your time.
Week 3: STEWARDSHIP OF THINGS : A great age to learn that all of the possessions they have and will have in life doesn’t belong to them, but God. He has given us everything we have to manage for his glory.
Week 4: STEWARDSHIP OF TESTIMONY : Not only are we saved by the Gospel, but we are responsible for sharing the Gospel and the personal change it is making in our lives.
Week 5 : STEWARDSHIP OF TALENTS : Teens were encouraged to know they have a talent whether they realize it or not. They were also enlightened that they are responsible for discovering it and using it for God.
Starting this Sunday, Feb 5th, we launch into a 45 wk study in the Gospel Of Matthew. CAN’T WAIT!
Very impressed with the teens hard work at the Jan 29th SPAGHETTI DINNER FUNDRAISER after morning services. One thing better than going to camp is going to camp and working to pay for your camp fee. Great job!
WEDNESDAY NIGHT, Feb. 1st has been our best midweek bible study of the year so far. We related “Moses and the Burning Bush” to the circumstances in our everyday life that God is using to speak to us through. In a sense, THE BUSH IS STILL BURNING! After study time, it was time to get silly. We were blessed with a guest who led us in some activities to bring out our competitive side, but at the same time showed us how to work together as a team. The joke was on us when EVERYONE EXCEPT FOR HIM HAD 5 PIECES OF GUM EACH IN THEIR MOUTH… Lots of fun. Lots of positive feedback about our guest Ken Perry.
FOOTBALL GAME this Saturday, Feb. 4th in the gym, 10am-2pm, guys & girls. Michael Mills has worked hard to put it together. He’s running the show Saturday. Ought to be fun!
